Mission, Vision & History
Mission
The mission of the Eritrean Christian Church of Sacramento (ECCS) is to reach the Eritrean community in Greater Sacramento and beyond with the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We are committed to helping individuals grow into dedicated, mature followers of Christ who live out their faith daily.
Vision
Our vision is to equip believers through Gospel‑centered, holistic ministry, empowering every person to live a balanced life that glorifies God and positively influences others for Christ.
Our Story
Our Story
For many years, Sacramento had no Eritrean Evangelical church. Small home Bible studies began meeting intermittently in 2003, eventually growing into monthly—and later weekly—gatherings by 2012.
In 2014, the Eritrean Christian Church of Sacramento was officially recognized and registered in the State of California. That same year, Town and Country Lutheran Church graciously opened its doors, providing a home for our worship services and ministries.
Over the years, our church has experienced seasons of challenge and renewal. Some members relocated due to work or rising living costs, yet God continued to strengthen our congregation. Through renewed evangelism, outreach, and community engagement, ECCS has grown in stability, unity, and spiritual maturity.
As of April 30, 2026, our church family includes:
- 43 active adult attendants
- 34 children (infants, toddlers, and youth)
This journey reflects God’s faithfulness and the resilience of a community rooted in prayer, fellowship, and service.
Leadership & Ministry
ECCS is currently led by three elders and supported by 43 active adult members, with 32 serving as volunteers across various ministry teams. Each ministry team is co‑led by two individuals and plays a vital role in fulfilling our mission.
Our ministries include:
- Choir & Worship — leading the congregation in Christ‑centered praise
- Outreach & Evangelism — sharing the Gospel locally and beyond
- Youth & Children’s Ministry — nurturing the next generation in faith
- Deacon Ministry — supporting practical and spiritual needs
- Fellowship & Hospitality — building community and welcoming newcomers
- Other service teams dedicated to strengthening church life and supporting members
